Manual completion steps
- Compare every page of the exported draft with your records; check prefilled answers and all blank fields.
- Resolve any unanswered applicable questions and complete the indicated professional, government or signature handoffs.
- Review required declarations, certifications, signatures, dates, and supporting documents separately.
- Confirm the current form edition and instructions before use. GuidedForms does not submit forms or determine filing eligibility.
Step-by-step guide
What to check, gather and sign for I-601A, from choosing the route to after you file. Guides are in English for now.
Check the route
Research reviewed 2026-10-03. Printed edition reviewed: 01/20/25. Edition reviewed October 3, 2026. Check USCIS acceptance again before filing; the printed OMB expiration is a separate date.
Verify the specific provisional route
Applicant must be in the United States, at least 17, with approved immigrant basis and paid DOS immigrant-visa fee. Ordinary eligibility requires inadmissibility only under INA 212(a)(9)(B); a USC/LPR spouse or parent is the hardship relative, not a child alone.
Ask a lawyer or accredited representative about this step.
Review adjustment and removal posture
An I-485 pending with USCIS is ineligible for this route. Open proceedings must meet the administrative-closure/not-recalendared condition; a final order requires the needed I-212 already approved before I-601A. Pending I-212 is insufficient. Final reinstatement/unexpired voluntary departure require the stated review gates.
Ask a lawyer or accredited representative about this step.
Keep it out of concurrent-benefit packets
Instructions reject packaging I-601A with I-130, I-485, I-212, I-131 or I-765. Ancillary notification/representation documents are a separate matter.
