When you start as a guest
Guided answers and reusable guest information are saved in your browser. Use a private device. Documents you upload for checking are sent to the service for processing. You can clear browser preparation from the browser-data controls.
When you save to an account
Saved profile details and guided form answers are encrypted in the application’s database. Document storage and document-processing services have separate safeguards; this does not mean every file is encrypted by the profile system.
Who can access a case
Signed-in case access is checked against account and workspace permissions. If you work with a provider or firm, permitted case staff can access the information needed for that case. Operational access is governed separately.
Service providers and sharing
Google Cloud provides hosting, database and file storage, security scanning, and configured document reading. Google sign-in is optional. Configured payment or email providers handle those functions when enabled. We do not use your documents for advertising.
Security and retention
We keep saved preparation until you delete it or its responsible workspace owner approves deletion. Account deletion removes credentials and private information. Shared case history and anonymous payment references may remain; backups follow the storage provider’s retention controls.
Cookies
Necessary cookies keep you signed in (the sign-in session), let a guest return to and save their document check (packetcheck_guest, 30 days), and remember your cookie choice (packetcheck_consent, 1 year). With your permission only, one analytics cookie (packetcheck_visitor, 90 days) counts visits to our own pages so we can see which ones help people; it is not used for advertising or shared with ad networks. Browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are never counted. Change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Guest drafts and saved profiles may also be kept in your browser's storage until you clear them.
Your controls
Browser preparation can be cleared separately from account data. Signed-in account settings provide deletion controls and requests. Archiving hides a case from active work; it does not delete it. Shared cases may require the responsible owner’s review.
